The 5 Best Patios in Liberty Village for Summer

Liberty Village is one of Toronto's most walkable neighbourhoods, and when the weather turns warm the patios become the heart of it. I spend a lot of time in this pocket of the city, so consider this a local's shortlist: five spots to soak up the sun, grab a drink, and get a feel for why people love living here.

1. Local Public Eatery

If you want energy, this is your spot. Local at 171 East Liberty Street has built a reputation as the neighbourhood's go-to gathering place, and the patio is a big reason why. Plenty of sun, hanging lights, and cornhole right on the patio. With 20 taps, a happy hour, and a lively crowd, an after-work drink here has a way of turning into a full evening.

2. Wilbur Taco Co.

The long awaited second location of King West favourite Wilbur Mexicana recently opened at 50 Atlantic Avenue, and it's already drawing a crowd. We covered the opening here on the blog. Inside you get corrugated steel, stucco, and a wall of spinning vinyl. Outside, order tacos and a margarita during happy hour and your summer afternoon is sorted.

3. Nodo Liberty

For something more polished, head to Nodo at 120 Lynn Williams Street. This Italian spot has one of the most impressive rooftop patios in the area: white marble tables, French bistro chairs, and views over the neighbourhood. The menu centres on handmade pasta, wood fired pizza and Italian cocktails. It's my pick for a date night or a celebration.

4. Liberty Soho

Liberty Soho at 139 East Liberty Street pairs an art deco inspired interior with one of the most enjoyable patios in Liberty Village. It's known for a deep cocktail list, two daily happy hours, and an underrated weekend brunch. The patio is people watching at its best, and dogs are welcome.

5. Brazen Head Irish Pub

A Liberty Village institution. Brazen Head at 165 East Liberty Street has multiple levels of outdoor seating overlooking the Toronto skyline, a proper pint of Guinness, an eclectic pub menu, and live music on weekends. It handles groups large and small, which makes it the dependable choice before a concert or a game. There's even a cocktail bar tucked above it for a quieter drink.
