Looking for a place where love of the lake comes with genuine community and tradition? That's the Mimico Cruising Club's whole identity. MCC is a premier private yacht club in the west end that balances competitive racing with a deep commitment to the cruising lifestyle, and it has been getting that balance right for nearly fifty years.
Curious about the neighbourhood behind the docks? Our west end guides cover Mimico and its lakeshore neighbours.
Located in the heart of Humber Bay Park West, MCC has spent over forty years earning its reputation as one of the most welcoming clubs on Lake Ontario. The name points to its cruising roots, but the club is a powerhouse for all kinds of boating. Its stunning post and beam clubhouse, opened in 1984, is the hub for more than 600 members, where neighbours from Mimico, Sunnylea and The Kingsway trade stories from the water in a warm, rustic room that feels a world away from the city humming outside the park.
The cruising program is second to none. Throughout the season the club organizes flotilla-style trips, powerboats and sailboats travelling together to ports around the lake, which happens to be the best possible training wheels for newer boaters: you cross open water in the company of experienced captains, then celebrate with themed dinners, beach days and hikes at reciprocal clubs. For Etobicoke residents who want to see more of the Great Lakes, MCC provides the social and safety network that makes it real.
More life on the water:
For members who crave speed, the racing program runs from weekly club races to major regional events like the Lake Ontario 300. And you don't need a boat to belong: the Social Membership is a popular route for residents near Islington who come for the dining room and patio, and stay for a calendar that includes Lobsterfest, the Commodore's Ball, and yes, a winter book club. The social life here does not take a season off.
With docking for over 300 boats, a crane for dry sailing, and on site pump out facilities, the club is built for the modern mariner, while the playground, picnic areas and high speed WiFi keep the whole family comfortable. Groceries and the LCBO sit minutes away near Humber Bay Shores, which makes weekend stays aboard genuinely easy. Professional management plus member-involved culture is the formula, and it keeps MCC at the top of its game year after year.
MCC blends tradition with the modern boating life, and it values the member crossing the lake under sail exactly as much as the one enjoying a sunset dinner on the patio. In a neighbourhood defined by its relationship with the water, this club is one of the institutions doing the defining.
