Your Guide to Golfing in Etobicoke

Etobicoke Lifestyle & Community Samuel M April 20, 2026

Why is the west end considered a premier golf destination in the GTA? Variety, plain and simple. Etobicoke and its immediate borders hold nearly a dozen courses, from historic private clubs that have hosted national championships to public tracks perfect for a quick nine after work. This is your index to all of them, and since we've profiled most in depth, every name below is a doorway to the full story.

Wondering what living beside one of these courses is like? We wrote the honest version.

The iconic private clubs

St. George's Golf and Country Club: ranked among the top courses in the world, the crown jewel near The Kingsway, famous for its challenging terrain and Canadian Open history.

Islington Golf Club: a beautiful Stanley Thompson parkland layout along Mimico Creek near Islington and Dundas, pairing a challenging game with a very active social calendar.

Markland Wood Golf Club: a private club on Bloor Street West wrapped by the Etobicoke Creek, known for a tight-knit membership and a clubhouse that anchors its whole neighbourhood.

Lambton Golf and Country Club: a historic pillar near the Humber with two distinct courses, four Canadian Opens in its past, and a dramatic backdrop for every round.

Weston Golf and Country Club: on the Etobicoke-York border, the site of Arnold Palmer's first PGA Tour victory and a classic design serious players keep coming back to.

The Toronto Golf Club: technically across the creek on the Mississauga side, but the third-oldest club in North America is very much part of our golf landscape, and Alderwood's most storied neighbour.

More from the fairways:

The semi-private test

Royal Woodbine Golf Club: unique in the area because water comes into play on all 18 holes. A lush, demanding track that requires every club in the bag, minutes from the airport.

The public courses

Centennial Park Golf Centre: the west end's most accessible golf, with a 9 hole executive course, a big driving range, and even mini-golf. Where families and beginners learn to love the game.

Humber Valley Golf Course: rolling public fairways in the Humber River valley, a century of history, and the best challenge-to-value ratio in north Etobicoke.

Scarlett Woods Golf Course: an executive-length public course near Eglinton, perfect for sharpening the short game or squeezing 18 into a couple of spare hours.

The final takeaway

Championship prestige or a relaxed public green, the golf scene here covers the full spectrum, usually within a fifteen minute drive of home. It's one more way the west end quietly outperforms its reputation, and if you play, it's one more reason to live here.
